Smailey Borges 2010 Choice Daytona Cubs baseball card AUTO

I am getting geared up for Spring Training I am making a ton of customs and I bought a ton of cards to get signed. This was a card I got signed IP a few years ago at Spring Training. I hope well this year I did really well last year. This is my first year making customs for Spring Training I haven't even been making them for a full year yet if you can believe that. Thanks Smailey!

3/8/15: Henry Blanco
Henry Blanco 2008 Topps Chicago Cubs baseball card AUTO

I am really getting excited for Spring Training. This guy was one of my favorite players as a Cub and now he is a coach for the Cubs. This was a TTM to D-Backs Spring Training while he was still a player and now he is back in Chicago. I was hoping to meet him at Cubs Convention but he no showed. Thanks for signing Henry I hope to see you soon!

3/1/15: Daniel Bard
Daniel Bard 2009 Topps Boston Red Sox RC baseball card AUTO

I have been preparing for Spring Training TTM wise and IP wise and I came across this card I got TTM from Daniel Bard c/o Red Sox ST. Daniel is now a Cub and I hope to get him again when I go down. Daniel also has one of the best signatures in the game. Thanks Daniel!

2/22/15: Alfredo Amezaga
Alfredo Amezaga 2009 Topps Florida Marlins baseball card AUTO

I have been seeing a lot of photos of players signing autographs at camp. This was a card I got at Spring Training a few years ago. I am really glad baseball is back I missed it a lot I hope to graph a lot this year more than last year. Thanks for signing Alfredo and I can't wait to graph in AZ soon.

2/15/15: Brad Ausmus
Brad Ausmus 2009 Topps Los Angeles Dodgers baseball card AUTO

I am sending out a lot of TTM's to Spring Training so I thought I would share one I got a few years back from Brad Ausmus: a veteran MLB Catcher and current manager of the Tigers. I sent this one out in 2010 I think when he was ending his career. I hope to get some back and good luck to all of you collectors with your Spring Training TTM's. Thanks for signing Brad!

2/8/15: Brian Bogusevic

Brian Bogusevic 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen RC Houston Astros baseball card AUTO

I can't wait until spring training! This is a card I got signed IP at Spring Training in 2013 when he was with the Cubs. I am making a lot of customs and I am picking up cards to get signed along the way, It is too bad it is not getting warmer here but I can't wait until I feel that nice warm Arizona air and get to put on shorts. Thanks for signing Brian!

2/1/15: Ernie Banks

Ernie Banks 2012 Topps Gold Standard Chicago Cubs Baseball card AUTO

I guess now I am becoming at peace with Ernie passing away it is hard but I will come to peace with it knowing that Ernie will be watching over us every game in the best seat in the house with Ronnie and Harry. Ernie signed this card for me at the 2012 Cubs Convention in the VIP Lounge and I got to talk to him for about 20 minutes and he was super nice but I wish he signed that card when we started talking not when we were 19 minutes and 50 seconds into our conversation but I can't complain it is Ernie. Thanks for all of the memories Ernie! Rest in peace...

1/25/15: Dan Straily
Dan Straily 2010 Grandstand Kane County Cougars baseball card AUTO

Since Dan Straily got traded I thought I would show the autograph I got from him in 2010 if you look in the Cubs Convention recap I posted it shows his autograph now and I mentioned that I met him at Kane County and now he is an Astro and we have Fowler. Thanks for signing throughout the years and good luck in Houston Dan!

1/18/15: Jeff Beliveau
Jeff Beliveau 2011 Choice Daytona Cubs Team Issue baseball card

I am in the Cubs Convention spirit still so I thought I would add in an old card I got from Cubs Convention 2012 and this is the only time I got Jeff. Jeff went to Japan this off season for the All-Star series and he is a member of the Rays I'll see how I do today at Cubs Convention I have done very well so far. Thank Jeff!

1/11/15: Arismendy Alcantara
Arismendy Alcantara 2010 Grandstand Boise Hawks Team Issue RC baseball card

I have decided Arismendy is my favorite Cub so I will show the first card I ever got signed by him. His autograph has changed a lot since I got this when he was 18 and he has moved up quickly in the organization and is an every day starter now. I have gotten his auto a ton of times and he always has had an excellent auto. I hope to meet him at the Cubs Convention next week. Thanks for always signing Arismendy you are a good dude.

1/4/15: Carlos Marmol
Carlos Marmol 2012 Topps Heritage Chicago Cubs baseball card

I'm in the mood for Cubs Convention weekend which is in two weeks so I would show an autograph I got from the one in 2013, Carlos Marmol. I always hated him as a pitcher he couldn't throw strikes for his life and blew so many games and I was so happy when he left but I was able to get him to sign multiples for me at the Cubs Convention on 'scavenger hunt night' which was frustrating because I rushed into a line and was the 1st person there but nobody told me it was a flow over line after so after my line stayed empty (and I was the first person to get in line) the other line filled and I was thinking "suckers" and it turned out I had to wait them out and then I went which was frustrating. Thanks Carlos.

12/28/14: Manuel "Manny" Corpas
Manuel Corpas 2009 Topps World Baseball Classic baseball card

I was just looking through my books of autos and I came across his cards. I remember when he signed for me it was in 2012 at HoHoKam park in Mesa AZ and I wanted some shade from the blistering heat and I went to get some shade and I was by the players exit and he walked out of the locker room and I approached him and handed him a stack of cards to sign and he handed me the box in his hands (It had a cell phone and a baseball in it) and took his time and signed my cards and took his time on all of them. I always like guys that sign multiples and take the time like that and this was my first World Baseball Classic card I got signed. Thanks Manny!

12/21/14: Chang-Yong Lim
Chang-Yong Lim 2008 BBM Japan Yakult Swallows baseball card

I was looking through my cards and I saw this one. At the same time the Cubs signed Kyuji Fujikawa they signed this guy, Chang-Yong Lim. I got him to sign three Japanese baseball cards at Spring Training in 2013 at Fitch Park while he was rehabbing. He was easy to pick out because he was the only player who was #00 and had to walk with a translator and he was really hard to get his attention because I don't think he was expecting anyone to want his autograph. I also got this done in a nice metallic sharpie too. Thanks Chang-Yong!

12/14/14: Andrew McKirahan
Andrew Mckirahan 2012 Multi Aid Sports Peoria Chiefs Team Issue baseball card

Andrew was Rule 5 picked away from the Cubs last week to the Marlins. Usually I would be sad when a Cubs prospect I have some autos from but I am happy for him! This means he gets to play in the Big Leagues with Miami which is really cool. I was going to have him sign this card in Peoria but he was already moved up so I had him sign these in Spring Training 2013 at Fitch Park. Andrew was super nice when signing and I know there is some things being said about the surgery when he went but he is throwing straight gas hitting the high 90s after the surgery. Thanks for everything Andrew and good luck to you hope to catch up with you at Wrigley this summer.
12/7/14: Matt Garza
Matt Garza 2011 Topps Heritage Chicago Cubs baseball card

I just was looking through my cards and I wanted to show this. Matt Garza was one of the easiest autographs to get ever. I have 16 cards cards signed by him over 2 a few years and if he started signing he would sign for everyone. I always like guys like that and he was crazy as a pitcher and as an individual and it showed in his facial hair and he was not always the best pitcher but I appreciate how good he was to autograph collectors. Thanks Matt and good luck.

11/30/14: Tyson Ross
Tyson Ross 2010 Topps RC Oakland Athletics Baseball Card

This was a TTM Success in 2011 for Athletics Spring Training. Tyson was a 2014 All-Star (His first selection) but did not go because he pitched the week of the game. I was just going through and I stumbled upon this card. I also met his younger brother Joe in 2013 in South Bend. I hope everyone had a nice thanksgiving. Thanks Tyson.

11/23/14: Allen Ripley
Allen Ripley 1983 Topps Chicago Cubs baseball card

Allen Ripley passed away earlier this month. I thought I would share this TTM Success I got of him a few years back. I remember when I received this that I just thought "wow this is a beautiful autograph this is really cool" He was only 62 years young. It was a shame with all the deaths happening in baseball at that time with Taveras and the former A's pitcher Brad Halsey. I will always remember this TTM Success. Take it easy up there Allen. Rest in peace.

Allen Stevens Ripley
(October 18, 1952-November 7, 2014)

Here is his obituary written by his family:

Raised and educated in North Attleboro, Allen graduated from North Attleboro High School in 1970. He then followed in his father’s footsteps by pursuing his dream of pitching for the Boston Red Sox.
That pursuit started in 1972 when he was signed into the Red Sox farm system. He moved his way up over the next several years and finally captured his dream on April 10, 1978, when he made his major league debut for the Red Sox. He continued his career by pitching for the Red Sox in 1979, San Francisco Giants in 1980-1981 and Chicago Cubs in 1982. Allen’s finest season was in 1977 with the Pawtucket Red Sox, when he recorded 15 wins and only 4 losses which set all-time records for most wins, most consecutive wins and highest winning percentage in a single season, two of which still stand today.

11/17/14: Mike Trout
Mike Trout 2010 Topps Pro Debut RC Los Angeles Angels baseball card

This was a TTM in 2010 c/o the Cedar Rapids Kernels and at the time I only knew of him because of this card and watching the Draft. He was the Rookie Of the Year an MVP and a multiple time all star. I am really glad to have this in my collection as he is hard to get now. Thanks Trouty and good luck.

11/9/14: E.R. "Salty" Saltwell
E.R. "Salty" Saltwell 1961 Fleer Chicago Cubs Executive custom baseball card

Well I was out of ideas for who to show for the Autograph card of the week so I chose my grandpa because he is over right now for dinner. He was the Executive VP of the Cubs and General Manager of the Cubs. He worked in the Cubs organization from the 50s to the 80s and I got to throw out the 1st pitch at a Cubs game in his honor (He is not dead he is just to old to throw.) I made a bunch of customs for my family to have and this was one of them. Thanks Grandpa.

11/2/14: Elvis Andrus
Elvis Andrus 2008 Bowman Sterling Futures Game Texas Rangers World baseball card

I just thought I'd add this because it is a really cool card I bought 5 years ago for $2 and I just had nothing else to share. Elvis is the Shortstop for the Rangers for the past 6 years very consistently as well. Good luck Elvis and happy November everyone.

10/26/14: Jeremy Guthrie
Jeremy Guthrie 2007 Upper Deck Baltimore Orioles baseball card

I wanted to show this to show my support for the Royals. I hope they win the World Series I am not a huge fan of the Giants. This was a TTM back in 2010 when I was just starting to get autographs. Jeremy has always been kind to the autograph collectors in person or in the mail. Jeremy pitched in the World Series and probably won't pitch again in the World Series. Thanks Jeremy and good luck bring home a ring.

10/19/14: Josh Harrison
Josh Harrison 2011 DAV Boise Hawks team set baseball card

I thought I would add this in because he had a breakout season this year and was a All-Star for the Pirates. I got this as a TTM c/o the Pirates Spring Training a few years ago. This was a quick return and a good return to have. I think the Cubs made a bad trade losing him. They traded him and Kevin Hart to the Pirates for Tom Gorzelanny and John Grabow who at the time were ok but they were not an All-Star Player like Josh. Thanks for signing Josh and good luck.

10/12/14: Josh Donaldson
Josh Donaldson 2010 Bowman Chrome RC Oakland Athletics Baseball card

I just thought I would show this because he had a break out season this year becoming a A.L. All-Star. He was a Cubs 1st round Draft Pick in 2007 so I knew of him then and he was part of the Rich Harden and Sean Gallagher deal between the Cubs and A's. This was a TTM sent to the Athletics Spring Training in 2011 and I sent him two cards and he returned them both signed in an extra fine point sharpie. This was an old part of my collection and I am glad to have this one in my collection. Thanks Josh and good luck.

10/5/14: Ender Inciarte
Ender Inciarte 2011 Grandstand South Bend Silver Hawks baseball card

I decided to show off my collection that pre-dates my blog so I am going to do a card of the week and I am going to try to do it every week. Here is the story:

I got this card signed in 2011 at a South Bend Silver Hawks game and it took me forever to get him to come over and sign it. I called his name for 10 mins straight then he finally came over. I thought it was a language barrier or something because he is Venezuelan but he came over and spoke fine English. He was in his second season with South Bend and his stats were not the best so I did not expect to find out that he had made his MLB Debut this year but he had really improved after South Bend. Thanks for signing and good luck Ender.
